?Word was received on Tuesday morning of the death of Mrs. Samuel Croft, in Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Toronto, early Tuesday morning. Prior to being moved to this hospital, she had been in the General Hospital for about a year, suffering from arthritis.

The late Mrs. Croft, formerly Edna Holley, daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. John Holley was born on July 10, 1882 in Artemesia Township. She was united in marriage to Jos. Samuel Croft, who now survives her passing together with two sons, Pte. Harvey Croft of Camp Borden and Everett Croft of Flesherton. The late Mrs. Croft is also survived by four brothers: Charles, George, Issac and Samuel Holley. In religion she was Presbyterian. The late Mrs. Croft?s remains were brought from Toronto to Flesherton where the funeral will be held.

From his nephew?s (Elmer Howard) family history:

It must have been quite an adventure for a girl to be the only one in a family of nine boys, but such was the case with my Auntie Edna. First we must give you her full name, by which she was christened: Miss Ida Mary Matilda Edna Holley. She was the youngest of the family. Edna was a rather pretty girl of fairly slight build. She had beautiful large blue eyes, exceptionally long hair, a marvellous disposition and always a beautiful smile. Edna lived at home until her marriage, and was the mother of two boys. When quite a young person she was stricken with arthritis, she suffered quite badly for many years, finally passing away about 60 years of age. I had not seen her in many years and knew very little of her life and family. From web site of Curtis Boyle, Jan., 2011.
