John DAVIS and Mary COLBY, see No. 1 of the DAVIS family. He married secondly in Canton, N. Y. Nov. 21, 1852 Mary Jane SNELL born in Canton 1834, died in Boston Oct. 14, 1854. He married thirdly in Salem May 3, 1864 Elizabeth F. HERSOM born in Skowhegan ME. Sept. 11, 1834, did in Revere Dec. 1894 and was a widow HERSOM whose maiden name was ROSS.     There is an application to the Sons of American Revolution society in 1928 giving particulars of ancestry back to Major William Calder, through our Robert Calder. While this does not prove his ancestry it does support others who believe it is the correct line. Oct 2011.
