185 "WHITE CLOUD ISLAND MAN DIED SUDDENLY
Mr. George Cameron Ill Only a Few Days With Pneumonia; Served Overseas
Mr. George Cameron, well known resident of White Cloud Island, passed away very suddenly at 3 o'clock on Friday morning. He had been ill only a few days with pneumonia, and his death came quite unexpectedly. The late Mr. Cameron was very well known in North Keppel, Wiarton, as well as in Owen Sound, and his sudden death, when he was in the prime of life, will be a great shock to his friends.
He was born about 40 years ago in North Keppel, a short distance from Big Bay, the eldest son of Mr. and Mrs. John Cameron, of White Cloud Island. The late Mr. Cameron has been a resident of White Cloud Island, where he had a farm, for about twenty years. He saw service overseas. He enlisted in Owen Sound with the 147th Battalion and went overseas with that unit later being transferred to a construction battalion, where he held the rank of sergeant. During his service overseas, the family resided in Owen Sound.
About sixteen years ago he was married to Miss Sarah Stewart, who survives, with four children, Isobel, Sadie, Annie and Stewart, the latter being but four years of age. Isobel is a student at the Owen Sound Collegiate Institute.
Mr. Cameron was very widely known in the district, and his death will be the source of deep regret to many friends. In the army he was a good soldier and in civilian life he was a good citizen. In religion he was a Presbyterian.
Arrangements for the funeral are not complete." [newspaper clipping, April 11 ?, 1924] From the web site of "mcgregor-mills.ca" .
