6183 LEVER, James was born Feb. 20, 1769 , in Bolton-le-Moor, Lancashire, England, and emigrated to America in 1817. After residing a few months in Philadelphia [my note where Roger was born], he moved to the town of York, where he arrived in June 1818. During the following year, he was instrumental in establishing the first Wesleyan Church in York. In 1821, he moved about 5 miles from town, and in 1824 to Weston. On August 14, 1861, he was killed when he accidentally fell through trap door in the wholesale store of Mr. McMaster, at the foot of Yonge St. Toronto; survived by his wife, a son Rev. John Lever, and several other childrren. In Christian Guardian September 25, 1861, p. 152. Obituary.
