From his nephew?s (Elmer Howard) family history:
He was a farmer, his wife?s name being Jenny Speers. I always admired Uncle Jake. As a boy I spent a good part of my time in their home, as they had no children. He was such a happy fellow always laughing and telling jokes. He was a wonderful provider, a good farmer, and was beyond a doubt the slowest moving person I ever knew. He was also the greatest bargain hunter, and a wonderful fellow, and I loved him. From web site of Curtis Boyle, Jan 2011.
