    • From Elaine Hutton, 24 Apr. 2010 email. Will of Samuel Stewart, Albion #14677 in the year 1864; This is the last will and testament of me, Samuel Stewart the ?elder of the township of Albion, in the County of Peel and Province of Canada farmer, being of sound mind and understanding.

      After payment of all my just debts funereal and outstanding expenses, I give devise and bequeath unto my beloved wife, Anne Stewart, the homestead, lot number ten in the Seventh Concession of the Towndhip of Albion being the west half and I also give devise and bequeath unto my said wife ten acres of a water privilege on part of lot number eleven on the Sixth Concession of Albion which I bought of Applegarth?s to hold and enjoy the above named property with all the privileges thereon, with this ?promise, that if my son Samuel Stewart acts the part of a good and dutiful son and stays at home with his mother, the said Anne Stewart and if she considers my son Samuel worthy of the above named property at her death, I do then recommend my wife to give the same unto him but if my wife the said Anne Stewart considers any other person more worthy than him the said Samuel Stewart my son then I give my wife the favor to dispose of forever by will or deed as she deems fit to any person. I also give devise and bequeath unto my daughter Margaret, the sum of one hundred dollars to be paid in three years. I also give devise and bequeath unto my daughters viz: Elizabeth, Mary, Jane, Ann, and Ellen the sum of one shilling each, the same to be paid within four years. I also give, devise and bequeath unto my sons viz: James, William and Alexander, the sum of one shilling each to be paid in three years and as to my personal ______, I give devise and bequeath unto my beloved wife Anne Stewart all my household furniture all my live stock and all my farming implements of every kind and I hereby appoint my wife Anne Stewart, as executrix of this my last will and witness my hand the fourteenth day of January one thousand eight hundred and sixty four.

    • April 2010 email from Elaine Hutton: notes Samuel Stewart (1784/9-1864) and Ann Moore (1799-1878).Their daughter Mary was the second-born out of a family of 10 children. They came from Tonytallagh, a townland one mile south of Drum and 3.5 miles northwest of Cootehill, County Monaghan, Ireland. Samuel Stewart purchased 100 acres, southwest 1/2 lot 10 conc. 7 Albion township on Oct. 2, 1838. Samuel Stewart's brothers, John and George, had come to Canada in 1817 and had settled in Cavan township, Durham County. Another brother, James Stewart had lived in Cavan township and was married and living in West York- Source Marjorie Stuart (marjstuart@sympatico.ca).
